Swan In Motion wins fourth in a row

Dover, DE — Swan In Motion earned his fourth win in a row, narrowly holding off Northern Express to take Tuesday’s (March 15) $32,500 Open/Preferred Handicap Trot at Dover Downs.

Northern Express and Swan In Motion left from their outside posts, and Swan In Motion seized control through a rapid :26.3 while Northern Express retreated to the pocket. Swan In Motion rated a :56 half before accelerating up the backstretch to evade a first-over challenge from Quiksilvr Bluechip past three-quarters in 1:24.2. In deep stretch, Northern Express took his shot up the inside, but could not reel in Swan In Motion, who prevailed by a head in 1:53.2 in line to Art Stafford Jr. Ginger Tree Skyr closed off second-over cover to narrowly claim third over a stalled Quiksilvr Bluechip.

Montrell Teague led all drivers with a triple; trainer Joe Columbo and owners George and Tina Dennis teamed up for a triple, as well.

Wednesday’s (March 16) card features a $3,582 Pick-4 carryover (races 2-5), and Shes Pukka N and Bettors Heart N will highlight the Mares Open/Preferred Handicap Pace (race 10). First post is 4:30 p.m.
