Faraldo statement regarding racing at Yonkers in this year’s New York State budget

Editor’s Note: The following is a statement from Joseph Faraldo, president of the Standardbred Owners Association of New York, regarding racing at Yonkers in this year’s New York State budget.

Yonkers, NY — Joseph Faraldo, president of the Standardbred Owners Association, representing harness horsemen at Yonkers Raceway, stated: “We are extremely grateful for the leadership of Governor Hochul — in partnership with Assembly Member Pretlow, Senator Addabbo and other legislators who have always respected and supported the racing industry — in protecting the future of harness racing at Yonkers Raceway in this year’s budget. The ‘hold harmless’ provision included in the enabling legislation for new downstate casinos will ensure that racing and agriculture can continue to generate jobs and economic benefits should MGM Empire City Casino be awarded one of the licenses.”
