Harmon wins GLADA Trot at Northfield

Northfield, OH — Lauren Harmon rallied Next Woman Up to a 1:58.1 triumph over Jazmin Arnold and Rockefeller Lindy in Sunday’s (April 24) $7,500 Great Lakes Amateur Drivers Association trot at MGM Northfield Park. It was the first time in the year-long series that female drivers finished one-two.

The race was inundated with early speed, supplied by a :27.1 first-quarter clocking by Eddie Miller and Lady Eagle. Lady Eagle still had command when they passed the half in :57, at which point the trailers looked to move up. Arnold was the first to move with Rockefeller Lindy, the odds-on favorite, and they gained command as the field rounded the final turn — only to be joined by Harmon and Next Woman Up. They battled down the stretch before Next Woman Up gained command and rallied to a 1-1/2-length triumph in 1:58.1. Third place went to Dynamic Edge, driven by Don Sherman.

Next Woman Up is a 7-year-old daughter of Manofmanymissions trained by Charlie Myrick. She paid $29.60 to win. For Harmon, it was her third seasonal driving victory.
