GSY recap from the Meadowlands Friday night

East Rutherford, NJ – As the rain held up and the fog rolled in, the GSY races were held early and late for the first time ever on Friday night (May 13) at the Meadowlands.  The first, ninth and 13th races were this week’s GSY spots and the racing didn’t disappoint.

In the first, Dave Glasser was able to grind up towards the leader and collared him in deep stretch for the victory.  He won by two lengths over the post-time favorite Fernado (Tony Ciuffetelli) with Crush Hanover (Eugene Robinson) rounding out the trifecta.  The mile went in 1:53.4.

The ninth race featured both a fast first and last quarter (:27) and a mile that went in 1:52.4.  When all was said and done, it was a patient pocket journey by Rockabilly Charm with Jonathan Ahle aboard who ended up winning by 2-1/2 lengths and came home the last quarter 26.4.  It was longshot Mv Ok Palacio Br (Rob Harmon) who finished second over the early pacesetter Ferdinand A (James Slendorn).

The last race on the card featured a speed duel for the lead but a stubborn Pete Kleinhans aboard Hurrikane Georgie would not let anyone pass and was still able to hold off a late charge by Rock To Glory (Bruno Chiodo) to get the victory.  A parked A B Collins (Joe Lee) hung on for third.  The mile went in 1:52.4.

The amateur drivers and pacers will take center stage again next Friday night (May 20) at the Big M.
