Mississippi Storm wires Dover’s top trotters

Dover, DE — Mississippi Storm took advantage of an early miscue from Northern Express and won Tuesday’s (Nov. 1) $25,000 Open Trot at Bally’s Dover.

Driver Victor Kirby cut the mile with the 7-year-old Cantab Hall gelding, posting a :27.1 opening quarter before crawling to the half in :57.1. Up the backstretch, Star Razor (driven by Corey Callahan) moved first-up from fourth to force a :28.2 third quarter while Hatikvah (Ross Wolfenden) followed cover on the rim, however neither were able to gain ground in the stretch. Mississippi Storm won by 1-1/2 lengths in 1:53.3, with pocket rival Crystal Fashion (Tim Tetrick) finishing second as the 3-5 favorite. Hatikvah finished third, another four lengths behind.
