MHHA issues statement on the new Plymouth, Michigan track proposal

Northville, MI — As mentioned in Hometown Life last week, representatives from Northville Downs submitted a proposal to build a new racetrack in northwest Plymouth Township, just a few miles from the current location at Seven Mile and Sheldon Road in Northville.

This proposed new facility is being requested to be on a section of a 128-acre parcel near the southwest corner of Five Mile and Ridge roads.

We are excited by the announcement from Northville Downs to build a new facility in Plymouth. Our organization and the horsemen and women of the Michigan harness racing industry are looking forward to our continued partnership and tradition of horse racing in Michigan.

We are committed to working with the Plymouth, MI community to provide a unique entertainment experience while offering educational programs around harness racing.

All of us here at the MHHA and in the Michigan harness racing community fervently await the township’s decision on the proposal so we can further the future of harness racing in Michigan while expanding our positive community outreach.
