Betting up on the Winter meeting in Paris

Even though the Soccer World Cup in November was a tough competitor, early numbers of the betting at the French Winter meeting at Vincennes show a plus of 0.5 percent — around 4 million Euro.

At the Winter meeting, the betting accounted for a total of 1.15 billion Euros — that is 25 percent of the total betting on trotting races in France for a year.

The Winter meeting included 90 race days and 745 races.

Attendance is back to pre-Covid level numbers and excluding the day of the Prix d’Amerique, attendance was a total of 113,449 at 13 Sundays.

The Sunday that suffered the most was the Football World Cup final with less than 2,000 people at the racetrack.

Alexandre Abrivard became champion in both sulky and under-saddle races; he won a combined 99 races, which was a new record for the meeting. The old record was held by Eric Raffin at 93 wins.

Jean Michel Bazire became the trainer champion for the fifth time in a row. He had 267 starters which won 49 races and earned 2,689,890 Euro.

Ready Cash was again champion sire with earnings of 2,363,080 Euro from 296 starters and 32 wins. Second was Booster Winner with 1,124,145 Euro from 132 starters and 13 wins. Boccador de Simm was third with 1,071,510 Euro from 104 starters and 17 wins.
