A Real Legend rallies, wins Meadows feature

Washington, PA — A Real Legend reeled in the tiring leader, Redwhite N Goo, in mid-stretch and captured Friday’s (May 19) feature at Hollywood Casino at The Meadows, a $13,600 Conditioned Trot.

A Real Legend matched his career-best of 1:55 this afternoon while winning the feature at the Meadows. Chris Gooden photo.

Redwhite N Goo quarter-poled to the top and opened a daylight lead. But A Real Legend moved from fifth for Don Irvine, Jr. and had plenty in the tank. The 3-year-old Uncle Peter-Pink Ribbons gelding scored in 1:55 over a good surface, matching his career best. Littlesammy, who followed the winner’s cover, was second, a neck back, while Redwhite N Goo saved show.

Rosy Weaver trains A Real Legend, who lifted his lifetime bankroll to $150,873, and owns with Heartland Acres.

Dan Rawlings teamed with trainer Lester Mullet for three wins on the 12-race card.

Saturday’s (May 19) 14-race Preakness Day program at The Meadows features a pair of stakes for sophomore filly trotters — a $140,496 Pennsylvania Sires Stake and a $60,000 PA Stallion Series event. In addition, the Meadows Standardbred Owners Association will offer starting gate rides, winners’ circle photographs and prize drawings. (Register at the MSOA table.) On the wagering front, the card offers a $2,460.86 carryover in the Early Pentafecta (race four). Special post time is 11:30 a.m.
