Southwind Bella strong in Meadows feature

Washington, PA — After idling outside for much of the first quarter, Southwind Bella powered to the lead, scorched the back half in :55, and easily captured Thursday’s (Oct. 5) feature at Hollywood Casino at The Meadows, a $13,000 distaff conditioned pace.

Southwind Bella entered the race with impeccable credentials, including a win in a New York Sire Stakes and a second in her Jugette elimination; players noticed, hammering her down to 2-5. The daughter of Huntsville-Southwind Solara did not disappoint, defeating the pocket-sitting Blue Ivy by a length in 1:50.3 for Dave Palone. Secret Side Piece finished third.

Ron Burke trains Southwind Bella, who vaulted over $200,000 in career earnings, for Burke Racing Stable, Weaver Bruscemi LLC, Bridgette Jablonsky and Lombardo/Green Racing.

Aaron Merriman and Palone each piloted three winners on the 13-race card.

Live racing at The Meadows continues Friday (Oct. 6); first post is 12:45 p.m.
