Marloe Hanover digs in, wins Meadows top distaff pace

Washington, PA — Millionaire Marloe Hanover held off the Lightning Lane surge of Fighting Evil to capture Wednesday’s (May 15) $19,200 Filly & Mare Open Handicap Pace — her third win in the last four starts — at Hollywood Casino at The Meadows.

Marloe Hanover grabbed the lead in a contested :27.1 opening panel, but when Dave Palone gave her a :29 second-quarter breather, the 7-year-old daughter of Captaintreacherous-Mesmerize Bluechip had plenty left for the drive. She downed the pocket-sitting Fighting Evil by three-quarter lengths in 1:51.2 while High Flyin’ Filly rallied for show.

Virgil Morgan, Jr. trains Marloe Hanover, who now boasts a lifetime bankroll of $1,148,288, for Let It Ride Stables Inc. and Odds On Racing.

Aaron Merriman, Ronnie Wrenn, Jr. and trainers Nathan Bresnahan and Mark Goldberg each enjoyed a double.

Live racing at The Meadows continues Thursday (May 16), first post 12:45 p.m.
