Tequila Talkin scores off layoff; Wrenn wins five

Washington, PA — Sharp off a nine-week layoff, Tequila Talkin roared from the pocket through the final turn, wore down leader Emerald’s Legacy, and captured Thursday’s (June 6) $21,200 Open Trot at Hollywood Casino at The Meadows.

Tequila Talkin grabbed the early lead but released Emerald’s Legacy, who had to battle three-wide to get there. Tequila Talkin continued to stalk from the pocket until Ronnie Wrenn Jr. cut him loose. The 9-year-old Cantab Hall-Margarita Nights gelding needed the entire stretch to do it, but he got by the game Emerald’s Legacy to triumph in 1:52.2. The ground-saving Double Account finished second, three-quarters of a length back, while Emerald’s Legacy saved show.
