Fluet trainees triple on Sunday at Saratoga

Saratoga Springs, NY — Trained by Phil Fluet, the Fluet Stable sent five horses to the track on Sunday (June 30) at Saratoga, returning with three winners in addition to a second and fourth.

Devious Hottie ($2.60) was driven to her second straight victory by Fluet, kicking off the hat trick for the stable in the card opener. The sophomore Devious Man-Whatahottie filly got away fourth through the opening quarter in :28.3, moved to the outside at the :59.3 half, and then took command of the field before the three-quarters in 1:29. Down the lane, Midnight Swan (Jay Randall) provided a fierce battle against the Fluet student, but Devious Hottie had enough power to prevail by a nose in 1:58.3.

Devious Hottie is owned by Marcy Rich.

Stonebridge Mach ($2.70) followed in race seven to give Fluet his training/driving double with a 1:54.4 victory by a head in his conditioned pace class. Joseph Stanislowsky owns the winner.

Finally, in race eight, Reel Busy ($2.60) joined his stablemates in victory, driven to a 2:01 score by a neck for owner Woodward Stable.

The current leading trainer, Mark Beckwith, and leading driver, Brett Beckwith, teamed up to win the $15,000 Winners Over/Open Handicap Trot with Echo De Meautis Fr ($3.50) from gate-to-wire by 1-1/2 lengths in 1:55.2. Archie McNeil owns the winning 10-year-old gelding.

Fluet and Beckwith each drove four winners on the matinee card.

Racing at Saratoga Casino Hotel resumes on Monday (July 1) for an afternoon card starting at 12 p.m.
