Freshman colt sells for $220,000 at French sale

For the second year in a row French trainer Louis Baudron held a mixed sale at his stud farm, Haras des Rouges Terres in Normandy, on Thursday (July 12).

The top price of $220,000 was paid for Good Friday, a colt sired by Village Mystic and out of Maflymede.

Even though the top price was $220,000 for a 2-year-old colt, the average price declined by 22.6 percent.

The top price of $220,000 was paid for Good Friday, a colt sired by Village Mystic and out of Maflymede, who is the dam of the best French 4-year-old mare, Draft Life, who has earnings of more than $1.2 million.

Another 2-year-old colt, Give Me Cash, sired by Ready Cash and out Vive Majyc, who was a top class trotter, brought $175,000. This was her first foal.

A total of 89 horses went through the ring, but only 56 percent of them were sold. The average price was $36,200.
