Nichols, NY — Roll With Sparky won the $10,000 Fillies and Mares Open Handicap Pace on a special July 4 matinee ay Tioga Downs.

Roll With Sparky was a 1:52.1 winner for John MacDonald.

Roll With Sparky ($3.80) went to the lead and controlled all the fractions (:27.1, :57, 1:24, 1:52.1). Miss Irish Rose A (Larry Stalbaum) followed the whole way. She would make a run at the leader in the stretch but Roll With Sparky had plenty in the tank to win with ease. Miss Irish Rose A finished second. K J’s Caroline (Mike Merton) was third.

Roll With Sparky is a 4-year-old mare by Roll With Joe. Trained and driven by John MacDonald for owners James Graham, Lee Winters, and Paul Tandlmayer, it was her fourth win this season and 16th career victory.

MC Attagirl (Fern Paquet Jr.) won her seventh in a row with a victory in the $7,900 Fillies and Mares Open 3 Pace. MC Attagirl ($10.80) went to the lead and controlled the early fractions (:28.1, :57.3, and 1:25.4). Checkered Past (Jim Meittinis) pressured her all around the last turn, taking the lead at the top of the stretch. MC Attagirl answered back by pulling away in deep stretch to win in 1:52.4. Rockin Desire came up to finish second. Calbay picked up third place.

MC Attagirl is a 4 year-old mare by Proper Respect. Owned and trained by Edgar Clarke, she now has eight wins on the season. It was the 10th time she reached the winner’s circle in her career.
