from the Quebec Jockey Club

Trois-Rivieres, QC — EAU Naturelle and trainer/driver Simon Delisle posted a 22-1 upset when they nipped the favorite, YS Suzanne, by a nose in the second round of the Quebec-bred series for 4- and 5-year-old female trotters at the Hippodrome 3R Tuesday (June 26) evening.

YS Suzanne and driver Guy Gagnon went to the early lead with EAU Naturelle and Delisle just off the pace.

YS Suzanne cut fractions of :30 and 1:00.3 before hitting the three-quarter mile marker in 1:30, at which point Delisle moved his mare to the outside. EAU Naturelle responded, gaining on the leader around the final turn. She kept gaining down the stretch and caught YS Suzanne at the wire to win in 2:00.1.

The third race on the card was a lifetime mark for EAU Naturelle, a 5-year-old daughter of Windsong Espoir who is co-owned by Chantal Auger, Raymond Bouffard, Rejean Page and Anne Delisle of Quebec.

She paid $46.60 to win.

Lucky Promesses was third.

The track was fast all night: The winners of the second through seventh races all registered lifetime marks.

In the fifth race, the horse division of the Quebec-bred series, Kinnder Dangerous and driver Justin Filion led from start to finish while setting a lifetime mark of 1:58.1.

With KFB Amigo Cool and driver Stephane Brosseau following them in second place, Kinnder Dangerous cut fractions of :28.2 and :59.1 to the half-mile before favored Capteur De Reve took up the chase going three-wide.

After three-quarters in 1:28.3, Brosseau once again came after Filion with KFB Amigo Cool, but Kinnder Dangerous was the strong horse down the stretch, winning by two and three-quarter lengths. KFB Amigo Cool was second with Capteur De Reve third.

It was the second win in four starts this year for Kinnder Dangerous. The 4-year-old gelding by Northern Escort was bred and is owned and trained by Denitza Petrova of Melbourne. He paid $5.70.

Brosseau and Gagnon had driving doubles while Alain Martin led all trainers with two wins from his stable.

Live racing resumes Sunday at H3R with first race post time at 12:50 p.m. (EDT).
