Speed Trap heads Saturday Bluegrass card

Paducah, KY — Speed Trap, a 7-year-old son of United Ace and a winner of a quarter million dollars lifetime, tries to snap a four-race streak of place finishes in the Winners Over in the fifth race on Saturday night (June 23) at Bluegrass Downs.

The Madison Cullipher driven and Jim Brinson trained horse starts from the five post in a wide-open race.

It won’t be easy for Speed Trap as he faces the streaking Watts Was I Drinkin (Randy Crisler) who is a neck short of being three-for-three for the season and has won her last two starts impressively.

Rollonrocktane paced the second quickest mile in the last 15 years at Bluegrass two starts ago for Tom T. Tetrick. He starts from the six post.

Highland Hellion (Jamaal Denson) tries for career win 36, leaving from post two for trainer Rex Watson and this one had excuses in his last start.

Well Bred, team Avenatti, makes his fourth start of the year from the rail and could surprise with some racing luck. Western Memory has post three for Geremy Bobbitt and he has been a model of consistency, having hit the ticket every start here. Outside in post seven is Special Blend and Randal Jerrell. They have beaten these twice at this meet and Special Blend is the field’s leading lifetime money earner with more than $300,000.

First post for the Saturday six-race card is 6 p.m (CDT) and racing will conclude for the 2018 season on Sunday night.
