Fans asked to choose the “wager” in Ben Hur Cup

from the Quebec Jockey Club

Trois-Rivieres, QC — This Sunday (June 24), the Hippodrome 3R will host its inaugural Ben Hur Cup driver challenge tournament pitting two drivers in eight tournament harness races.

What makes this challenge unique is that the two drivers will alternate selecting the horses they will drive in each of the eight races and they must each select a different post in each race so that they will both start from posts one through eight by the end of the tournament.

The two drivers are household names not just on the Quebec harness racing circuit, not just in Canada, but in all of the sport. The champion is two-time O’Brian Award winner, Sylvain Filion. The challenger is currently Canada’s leading money winner and dash winner in 2018, Louis-Philippe Roy.

The draw for post positions took place on Tuesday and the drivers have selected their horses. They will compete in races two through nine for the Ben Hur Cup.

And both drivers have agreed to make a “friendly” wager between them on who will win the tournament, but they want to hear from race fans around the world what the wager should be. Wager ideas cannot be lewd or crass or in any form of bad taste and if they are they will be tossed out.

Please go to the Hippodrome 3R Facebook Page to submit your idea on what the wager should be between Sylvain Filion and Louis-Philippe Roy.

Both Sylvain Filion and Louis-Phillipe Roy will be at the grandstand for a meet and greet with race fans at 11:30 a.m. Sunday.
