Zephyr Kronos on Hambletonian path Friday at The Meadowlands

from the Meadowlands Media Relations Department

East Rutherford, NJ — The Meadowlands resumes live racing on Friday (June 15) with a nine-race card beginning at 7:15 p.m.

The overnight mix is highlighted by a few Hambletonian eligibles sprinkled over the program, including a very interesting Jimmy Takter pupil. Takter has a barn load of Hambo horses including a few intriguing prospects that have kept a very low profile, Zephyr Kronos among those.

By international classic winning sire Ready Cash, Zephyr Kronos raced but twice at age 2 but Takter and company recognized the talent enough to put the colt away early and count on time to season him.

The early returns would lean toward that being time well spent. Though Zephyr Kronos still requires careful handling and has been driven by the trainer in all starts this season, the speed is evident. He has exhibited a wicked turn of foot on several occasions with sub-:27 second final quarters a regular occurrence on his past performance lines.

The pair will leave from post two in a short field of six in the second race where he’ll find a pair of potential Hambo rivals in Dawson Springs and U Need Stones.

With the Hambletonian now just seven weeks hence, Takter will have to ask the hard questions soon to determine whether Zephyr Kronos is indeed worthy of owners Al Libfeld, Marvin Katz, Perry Soderberg and Jimmy’s wife Christina’s patience and investment.

The last race Jackpot Hi-5 carryover pool is now in excess of $250,000. You can find free past performances for that and the Pick-4 on the web.
