Sweden’s Cyber Lane wins Copenhagen Cup

The 5-year-old Cyber Lane, with trainer Johan Untersteiner in the bike, was an easy winner of the Copenhagen Cup raced at Charlottenlund in Copenhagen Sunday afternoon (May 13).

Cyber Lane was in command from the start and around the last corner he was attacked by Cruzado Dela Noche driven by Per Linderoth, who won the race last year. Top Danish trotter Takethem, driven by Steen Juul, who had followed behind Cyber Lane, found racing room going into the stretch and finished strongly on the outside, but Cyber Lane was full of trot and not easy to catch.

He won the 1-1/4 mile race in 1:54.4f (mile rate) by a length over Takethem and Cruzado Dela Noche.

The purse for the winner was $60,000.

Cyber Lane, who last year won the Swedish Trotting Derby and Breeders Crown, has now raced 21 times, winning 18 races. He is sired by Raja Mirchi, a Swedish stallion by Viking Kronos. The dam of Cyber Lane is Sybaris Hanover, she by Cantab Hall.
