Ft. Washington, MD — Hybrid Henry has always had some ability. Like a lot of trotters, manners and behavior have been a challenge at times for the trotting son of Cam’s Rocket.

Wednesday (May 9), he put forth his finest effort, scorching a field of six and tying the Rosecroft track record of 1:53.3 to win the $25,600 Maryland Sires Stakes 4- and 5-year-old Open. It was the 16th win in 32 starts for the 4-year-old, recently purchased by trainer-driver Russell Foster. His lifetime earnings now sit at $191,671. He cut fractions of :26.4, :55.2, and 1:24.1 en route to victory.

Little Sandyloam finished December as the top mare in Rosecroft’s highest class. It been a slow start to 2018 for the daughter of Riggins, but Wednesday night she got a strong drive from Jason Thompson and rolled out of the pocket to pass pace-setter Rhapsody Rose and hold off charges from Always A Rose (Jared Moyer) and KG Rocks (Jason Green). The win in 1:53.3 was the first of the year in eight starts for the 6-year-old who is owned by the EZY Ranch Inc. and trained by William Rohrer Jr.

Jason Green won three times on the card, twice for trainer Elwood Tignor, as Cool Toy ($11.80) and Lorriella ($51.00) both warmed up for upcoming Maryland Sires Stakes action with wins. Green also piloted American Force ($19.20) to a win for Cindy Callahan and trainer Jason Bowers.

Foster picked up a second win with A Mean Hurricane ($4.80) for Green Valley Training and conditioner Thomas Armour.

David Hill had a driving double, scoring with Proud Maryet ($11.80) and Angel Cindy ($10.20) for Gary White. Frank Milby notched wins with OutrageousdelightN ($14.40) for Jeff Clark and Cajun Fiddle ($43.40) for Tribbett Racing and trainer Joe Hundertpfund Jr.
