Series finals at The Meadowlands Saturday

East Rutherford, NJ — Saturday’s (April 21) card will see the finals of the $53,500 Whata Baron and $54,500 Burning Point finals highlight the 10-race evening.

The Whata Baron kicks off the program in the first race where Windsong Leo (Jimmy Marohn, Jr) and Barimah A (Andy Miller) have traded blows in the legs with each winning one with the other finishing second. In tonight’s abbreviated six-horse field Windsong Leo has drawn a slight advantage with post two in the final while his main rival drew post five.

Ron Burke trains Windsong Leo for his own interests as Burke racing with partners Weaver Bruscemi and Phil Collura while Scott Di Domenico trains Barimah A for Brian Carsey, John McGill and Adam Friedland.

Apple Bottom Jeans (post two, Victor Kirby) looks like the mare to beat in the Burning Point off a pair of leg wins. She was handy both times in the 1:50 range and seems to be able to race any way Kirby desires. Kevin Switzer trains her for KDM Standardbreds.

The Super Hi-5 Jackpot carry over is nearly $200,000 going into tonight’s card and you may get free program pages for a few wagers on the web.

Post time is 7:15 p.m.
