Better Caviar surged past Mac Deeno in mid-stretch to capture his second straight victory.

Better Caviar was inside behind a wall of horses past the three-quarters. But when Mike Wilder angled him off the cones and showed him racetrack, the 10-year-old son of SJ’s Caviar-Better Credit found another gear and downed Mac Deeno by a half-length in 1:57.2 over a “good” surface. Mike The Trader, who also was pinned in, finished third.

Dave Wade trains Better Caviar, who extended his career bankroll to $225,745, and owns with Gerald Brittingham and William F. Peel III.

Tony Hall collected four wins and Wilder three on the 13-race card.
