Shiaway St Pat series resumes Friday at The Meadowlands

East Rutherford, NJ — The Shiaway St Pat series resumes on Friday night (April 13) at The Meadowlands with an overflow field of 11 set to race in a single division for a purse of $17,500 and to secure a spot in next week’s $52,500 final.

Elysium Lindy is the sole returning winner with the winner of the other leg one division, Deep Impact, spending the week in the barn. He begins from the pole for driver Andy McCarthy this week. He led at every call in last week’s first leg and was a measured winner at a generous $24.60 mutuel, a very big price on a Ron Burke barn horse. Elysium Lindy has been installed as the 3-1 morning line choice in Friday’s race for the partnership of Burke Racing, Weaver Bruscemi and Joe Di Scala.

Trainer Julie Miller sends out a pair of serious contenders in the ultra consistent Opulent Yankee (post four, Jimmy Marohn Jr.) off a good try finishing second in the Deep Impact race last week and Sutton (post seven, Andy Miller) who disappointed with a sub-par effort, eventually going off stride in his return to the races after a year’s absence.

The big wagering news remains the carryover in the last race Super Jackpot Hi-5 which has risen to $184,242.
