Dance For Kisses roared wide through the lane to spring a 16-1 shocker in Monday’s $15,000 opening leg of the Ruby Cook Memorial Pace.

The series for 3-year-old fillies honors the memory of the late Ruby Cook, the track’s longtime switchboard operator.

Dance For Kisses hadn’t raced since Aug. 15 and had only a maiden victory to her credit. But when Bryce Brocklehurst angled her off the cones to the center of the track, the daughter of A Rocknroll Dance-Thirsty For Kisses caught the leader, E Dee’s Well Said, and downed her by three-quarters of a length in 1:57. Xfinity Beach earned show.

Justin Lebo owns and trains Dance For Kisses.

Dave Palone collected four wins on the 13-race card.

Tuesday’s program at The Meadows features a pair of rich total-pool guarantees — $25,000 for the Pick-5 (races nine-13) and $7,500 for the Pick-4 (races four-seven). First post is 1:05 p.m.
