Yornkers Raceway accident involving Kakaley, Marohn Jr.

Yonkers, NY — Drivers Matt Kakaley and Jim Marohn Jr. were involved in an accident during Yonkers Raceway’s 10th race Tuesday night (March 13).

Kakaley, driving Lawgiver Hanover, and Marohn Jr., driving Big Jer, were at the rear of the field moving into the third turn of the $15,000 pacing event. Lawgiver Hanover took a bad step, going down. Big Jer immediately went down, also, right near Lawgiver Hanover and Kakaley.

Kakaley was taken to Lawrence Hospital in nearby Bronxville, N.Y. Marohn Jr. appeared to escape injury.

No word at this writing about the condition of the horses involved. Updates shall be provided when available.
