Stickney, IL — Due to the current snowfall and forecast for additional accumulating snowfall into the afternoon, races on Friday (Feb. 9) at Hawthorne will be cancelled.

With very poor road conditions, it would be dangerous for horsemen to attempt to ship horses in to race. Additionally, to properly prepare a safe racing surface, the snow must conclude and then the track crew will need hours to conduct the snow removal process.

With this cancellation as a possibility, entries for Sunday at Hawthorne have been held off with those races to be drawn Friday morning. Horses that were entered to race Friday night will be contacted by the racing office to re-enter for Sunday to race.
