James Thurlow, 84, dies

Columbus, OH — James E. Thurlow, 84, a resident of Gladwin, Mich., died Nov. 9, 2017, at the Gladwin Nursing and Rehabilitation Community.

He was born Nov. 6, 1933, to Guy and Veda Thurlow in Gladwin Township. Mr. Thurlow was a proud member of the United States Army.

He was employed for many years as a fire officer for the State of Michigan Dept. of Natural Resources. Following his retirement he worked for Sugar Springs Sporting Clays. He loved harness racing and fishing. He was a Golden Glove Boxer and also boxed while he was in the Army.

Mr. Thurlow is survived by his wife, Linda; children, Guy (Maureen), Julie (Bill) Drumm, Jami (Mark) Feldman, Chris, Mike, Dick (Donna) Pauley and Suzanne Pauley; 16 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and siblings, Gayle, Joyce Fortuna and Connie Brent. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Elwood and Ken.
