Yonkers International Trot to be ‘simulcast’ by SNY

by Frank Drucker, Publicity Director, Empire City at Yonkers Raceway

Yonkers, NY — If you can’t find a seat at the track, find one in front of the TV.

Saturday afternoon’s (Oct. 14) million-dollar Yonkers International Trot at Empire City Casino will be broadcast by SportsNet New York (SNY).

The home of the Mets is also the home of the 39th edition of the trotting classic, picking up the Raceway’s simulcast show from 3:30-4:15 p.m. Prior to the International (ninth race, post time 4 p.m.), fans can watch the $250,000 Harry Harvey Invitational Trot (eighth race, post time just after 3:30 p.m.).

Both races feature 10 trotters at the 1-1/4 mile distance.

The 45-minute broadcast offers the insights of the author and Standardbred Owners Association of New York Vice President Peter Venaglia, while Empire City’s Clare Galterio goes behind the scenes with some of the International Trot participants.

First post for Yonkers’ 11-race, all-stakes, $3.3 million (a New York harness record) program is 1 p.m. The card also includes the $1.8 million New York Day of Champions and a pair of $250,000 Invitationals, the Harry Harvey Trot (see above) and Dan Rooney Pace (seventh race).
