Raymond (Ray) Sharpe, dies

Columbus, OH — Raymond (Ray) Sharpe, 47, died on Thursday (Aug. 17) at Nurse Maude Hospital in his native New Zealand. Sharpe and his wife Caroline were members of the Saratoga Springs, N.Y. harness racing community prior to his return to his homeland several months ago to be with his family.

Sharpe and his wife maintained a small stable and since their arrival in 2004, the couple had earned $825,130 in purse money. Sharpe also had his driver’s license and worked as a second trainer for Mark Harder for several years.

He is survived by Caroline: his father Rodger and mother Hazel: daughter Jessica and son Harris.
