Freshman trotting colts invade Tioga Downs for NYSS debut on July 4

Nichols, NY — Two-year-old trotters take center stage on Tuesday (July 4) at Tioga Downs with a 13-race card starting at 1 p.m. The featured events will be four divisions of the New York Sire Stakes (NYSS).

In the first division, which is race three and worth $27,750, the morning line favorite is Cruising In Style (Muscle Mass-SOS Respect), who is driven by Jason Bartlett. He is listed at 3-1. Owned by Thestable Cruising Group and trained by Andrew Harris, he won by 18 lengths in his last qualifier at Mohawk Racetrack in 1:58.4.

The second choice is Troller (Muscle Mass-Pearls Last Chance) who is owned by Michael Woodward and trained and driven by Phil Fluet. Troller (7-2) lost his only pari-mutuel start by a neck at Saratoga.

The third choice is Rich Uncle (Credit Winner) who is at 4-1. Rich Uncle (Mike Simons) is owned by W J Donovan and trained by Ron Burke. He is the first foal out of Royal Assets, who earned over $500,000 in her career.

In the second NYSS which is worth $27,750 and is carded as the fifth race, the morning line favorite is Ronnie Goldstein (Muscle Mass-Barbara Goldstein) who is owned by Steven Goldstein and trained and driven by Kim Crawford. He was a winner in his first career race at Saratoga (June 22) in 2:00.1.

The second choice in that race is If Not Why Not (Muscle Mass-Amazing Grace) owned by Michael Polansky and trained by Dave Spagnola. If Not Why Not (7-2) won his only pari-mutuel start in 2:02.2 at Saratoga on June 29 as well.

The third choice is Classichap (Chapter Seven-Classical Flirt) who is owned by the Purple Haze Stables and trained and driven by Trond Smedshammer. Classichap (4-1) is a half-brother to 2012 Hambletonian winner Market Share.

In the third NYSS division which has a purse of $28,250 and is the seventh race, the morning line favorite is the entry of Alex The Great (Muscle Mass-Priceless Image) and Lunar Credit (Credit Winner-Lunar Dream Om) at 2-1. Alex The Great is the half-sibling to several horses who have won over $250,000 lifetime.

He is owned by the Andy Miller Stable, Harvey Eisman and the Little E LLC and is trained by Julie Miller while driven by Andy Miller.

Lunar Credit is owned by Little E LLC and is trained by George Ducharme and driven by Chris Lems.

The second choice is Pass Shooter (Conway Hall-Chunk-a-punk) who is owned by Michael Woodward and is trained and driven by Phil Fluet. He is listed at 3-1.

The third choice is Perlucky (Lucky Chucky-Paper Girl), who is owned by Purple Haze Stables and is trained and driven by Trond Smedshammer. The morning line has him at odds of 7-2.

The final NYSS is race nine and is worth $27,750. The morning line favorite is Clive Bigsby (Muscle Mass-Northern Flare), who is owned by Winters Racing Stable and trainer George Ducharme while driven by Chris Lems. Clive Bigsby (5-2) got a victory at Vernon Downs on June 23 in 1:58.1.

The second choice is Six Pack (Muscle Mass-Pleasing Lady), who is owned by Little E LLC , Stall Kalmer FF, Lars Berg and trainer driver Ake Svanstedt. He is 7-2 on the morning line.

The third choice is Tito (Muscle Mass-Stonebridge Encore), who is owned by Anthony Lombardo, George Golemes and Louis Winger while trained by Erv Miller and driven by Marcus Miller. Tito is 9-2 and has Miller has been terrific with his 2-year-olds so far in this young season.
