Peter Galassi and Phil Georgeff elims in Hawthorne spotlight

Stickney, IL — First leg eliminations of the Peter Galassi series for pacing fillies and mares and the Phil Georgeff for 3-year-old colt and gelding pacers were in the spotlight on Sunday (May 14) at Hawthorne.

In the Peter Galassi, favored Lakeside Ms Queen and driver Dale Hiteman controlled the pace through fractions of :30.1, 1:00.2, and 1:30 before drawing away in the lane to win by open lengths in 1:57.1. Rear View was second, followed by IYQ BNU.

Lakeside Ms Queen is owned by Jace Sundeen and Denise Jarka and trained by Jace Sundeen.

Early in the race in the Phil Georgeff elimination, driver Mike Oosting moved Heartland Revenue to the front and backed down the pace through fractions of :29.4, :59, and 1:28. In the stretch, both Getting Rowdy and favored Mr McDreamy tipped wide to challenge, but were unable to get to Heartland Revenue.

Heartland Revenue won for trainer Tom Simmons in 1:55.2. Getting Rowdy finished second while Mr McDreamy was third.

Heartland Revenue is owned by Glen Bauman.

Drivers Michael Oosting and Casey Leonard had three wins each, while Dale Hiteman had two. Trainer Frank Petrelli also had two wins.
