Confederation Cup elims drawn

from Standardbred Canada

Mississauga, ON — The connections of 12 4-year-old pacers have entered their charges to contest the Confederation Cup, therefore a pair of C$20,000 eliminations will head postward this Sunday evening (May 14) at Flamboro Downs in Dundas, Ont.

Check Six (post five, Yannick Gingras) heads into the first elim (race five) off of a sub-1:50 win at the Meadowlands Racetrack last weekend. The Ron Burke-trained son of Somebeachsomewhere went gate-to-wire on May 6 in his Graduate Series leg and nailed the wire one length the best in 1:49.3. The career winner of $1.2 million in purses has won 16 of his 35 career races and has only missed the board on nine occasions.

Check Six will face off against Dr J Hanover (post one, Scott Zeron), Magnum J (post two, Doug McNair), Mr Wiggle Pants (post three, Doug McNair), Daylight Rush (post four, Jonathan Drury) and Western Fame (post six, Mark MacDonald).

Mach Three gelding Sintra (post six, Jody Jamieson) is carrying a two-race win streak into the second elim. Sintra, trained by David Menary, powered to an open-length 1:49.1 win last weekend at the Meadowlands during his preliminary-leg division of the Graduate Series. The bay is owned by Brad Gray (of Dundas, Ont.), Michael Guerriero (Brampton, Ont.) and Menary Racing Inc. (Rockton, Ont.). Sintra has won 10 of his 21 starts and has only missed the board on three occasions. His six length win in his Graduate prelim was clocked in a life’s best 1:49.1.

Sintra will square off against Stonebridge Beach (post one, Stephane Pouliot), Roll Away Joe (post two, Yannick Gingras), Easy Lover Hanover (post three, Doug McNair), Seeley Man (post four, TBA) and First Car (post five, Phil Hudon).
