Armand Brocca, 95, dies

Columbus, OH — Armand Brocca, 95, died April 30, 2017.

Born in Albany, N.Y., he was a lifelong area resident. He was a veteran of both the United States Merchant Marines and Army, serving during World War II, where he was a recipient of a Purple Heart.

Mr. Brocca worked in the construction industry and retired at age 57.

His love of horses started at age 11 and throughout his life, he owned and trained horses, winning many races at the Saratoga Harness Track.

He was a member of the VFW in Saratoga.

Mr. Brocca was the father of David and Linda (Michael) Bergquist; grandfather of Deanna (Wayne) Manney, Angie (Eoghan) Conlon, Casey (Randy) Bergquist and Paul Tracey, Jr.; and great-grandfather of Jordan, Artie and Sonny. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his former wife, Grace Brocca; mother, Virginia Juliano; grandson, Gerald Bergquist; and siblings, Mary O’Brien, Vincent Juliano, Irene Carr and Dominick Juliano.

Relatives and friends are invited to call at the Reilly & Son Funeral Home, Colonie, on Thursday (May 4) from 4-7 p.m., with a prayer service concluding the evening at 7 p.m. Burial will be Friday (May 5) at 2 p.m. at the Gerald B.H. Solomon National Cemetery in Saratoga.
