George “Duke” Dranichak, 74, dies

Columbus, OH — George “Duke” Dranichak, 74, died peacefully surrounded by his family on April 10, 2017.

He was the son of the late George and Rose (Mikitka) Dranichak.

He is survived by his loving wife, M. Christine (Bass); children, George Jr. and Melissa (Kevin) Mayeu; brother, Edward (Sue); and grandchildren, George III and Tyler. He was preceded in death by a brother, Gregory.

Mr. Dranichak was born and raised in Binghamton and lived most of his life in Pavilion. He graduated from Niagara University in 1964 with a Bachelor of Science degree in business.

After college, he raced Standardbreds, then became a judge. He retired from the New York State Racing and Wagering Board, where he served as the Director of Racing Officials for all Standardbred and Thoroughbred racetracks in the State of New York.

His family will receive friends from 4-7 p.m. on Thursday (April 13) at the Falcone Family Funeral & Cremation Service Inc., 8700 Lake Rd. (Rt. 19), Le Roy. His Celebration of Life Service will be held at the Holy Spirit Church in Binghamton at a later date.
