Washington, PA — Ms Mullen zipped to the front from post eight and dug in late to preserve her victory — her second straight — in the Mary Wohlmuth Memorial Trot at The Meadows. Stars N Sparkles rallied from last to take the other $12,500 division in Wednesday’s (March 15) second leg of the series for 3- and 4-year-old fillies and mares.

Ms Mullen won her Mary Wohlmuth split Wednesday at The Meadows in 2:00.3 over a track rated good.

While Ms Mullen had little trouble thwarting the first-over challenge of Eva Ka Jean, she still faced the Lightning Lane threat of the pocket-sitting Silly Silly Girls. The 3-year-old daughter of Muscle Massive-Kentucky Bluebird found more for Tony Hall and held off Silly Silly Girls by a neck in 2:00.3 over a “good” surface. Eva Ka Jean saved show. Dirk Simpson trains and leases Ms Mullen.

In the $20,000 Preferred Handicap Trot, Call For Justice won his third straight — a front-end jog from post seven in 1:56 — for Dave Palone, trainer Ron Burke and owners Burke Racing Stable and Weaver Bruscemi LLC. Tricky Nick finished second, 2-1/2 lengths back, with Angels Ransom third. The 5-year-old son of Justice Hall-Mika’s Mazurka soared over $300,000 in career earnings.

Hall piloted three winners on the 13-race card while Bob Key enjoyed a four-bagger as an owner. Rich Gillock conditions three of Key’s Wednesday victors.
