Nuncio victorious in first 2017 contest

Nuncio, last year’s winner of the prestigious Elitlopp in Sweden, returned to action Saturday afternoon (Feb. 18) at the Axevalla track and was driven by Ôrjan Kihlström. Sent off as the 1-10 favorite, Nuncio had no problem winning the 1-5/16 mile event time in 2.01.4 (mile rate).
It was just a walk in the park for Nuncio, who picked up the winner’s purse of $16,500
“I think he is much better in the heat than he used to be,” owner/trainer Stefan Melander said after the victory.
Nuncio‘s next race will either be at Bollnäs in Northern Sweden on March 11 or at Solvalla March 22.
