Washington, PA — The Meadows Standardbred Owners Association’s eighth annual Pink Out for Breast Cancer Research was held on Saturday (Oct. 22) and the event was a rousing success.

Mike Wilder participated in the miniature horse race on Saturday.

A new twist was added this year — a miniature horse race featuring Meadows reinsman Mike Wilder along with trainer Scott Betts and several other members of the community.

The non-wagering event was part of a day filled with activity at The Meadows Racetrack & Casino that helped to raise money for Washington Health System in nearby Washington, Pa.

The MSOA and Meadows Casino joined forces to donate $2,000 to Washington Health System. Additionally, a Chinese auction, which raised more than $3,200, was held to benefit the cause. Donations were also raised through a “pretty pony” contest, and raffles for a pink harness, donated by Silverstone Decorative Concrete, and a pink Michael Kors purse.

“This cause means a lot to several of our members,” said MSOA President Rich Gillock. “We are proud to pull together with the casino and others in the community to support breast cancer research.”
