Columbus, OH — Nine $40,000 divisions of Ohio Sires Stakes for 2-year-old pacing and trotting fillies are set to be contested on Monday night (Aug. 15) at Northfield Park.

A total of 76 freshman distaffs passed the entry box at the Cleveland twice-around oval, with 43 pacers vying in five divisions and 33 trotters battling in four OSS tests in leg three of this series.

Ohio pacing stallions represented with progeny include Art Official (eight); McArdle (six); Big Bad John (six); Charley Barley (six); Manhardt (three); The Panderosa (three); and Woodstock (two). Stallions with one foal each are Art’s Chip, Foreclosure N, No Pan Intended, Oaks Enforcer, Santanna Blue Chip, Trick Man and World Of Rocknroll.

Lisa Ezzo of Delaware, Ohio, has bred two of the filly pacers, including Barley’s Angel and Berazzled, and three in partnership with Marion Beachy of Sugarcreek, Ohio: Barley Nation, Bourbon And Barley and Mrs Charlesparkley. Beachy is also the breeder of Banger L.

Billy Walters and Joe McLead of Delaware, Ohio-based Sugar Valley Farm are the breeders of Zoe Ellasen and By Bye Felicia; while Senena Esty’s Spring Haven Farm is represented by Official Kisser and Da Vinci Artist (in partnership with Doug Millard Holdings). Touch Of Trick and Rosa’s Touch were both bred by Knox Services.

The freshman filly pacing divisions could be renamed the Brian Brown club as the Ohio-based conditioner has one contestant in each OSS event. Brown will harness Bye Bye Felicia (race one), Bellasbrowneyegirl (race four), Strike A Chord (race six), Type A Grey (race nine) and Glorious Intent (race 12). Trainers Ron Burke, Bill Dailey, Herb LeVan, Joe Seekman and Ron Potter all have two going postward Monday evening.

Ohio-bred pacing fillies looking to pick up their third consecutive win in this series after capturing the first two legs include Bye Bye Felicia and Type A Grey.

Homesville, Ohio’s Andy Burkholder bred Renne Lu and Erika’s Luann, while Richard and Joyce McClelland of Zanesville, Ohio, are the breeders of Let’s Get Started and Henpecked. Pennys And Dines and Amuse’s were both bred by Robert Key of Leechburg, Pa.

In the trotting ranks, trainer Chris Beaver has a filly in every OSS leg three division. Beaver will send out Mov Adalyn (race two, No. 8), Chim Swift (race three, No. 4), Bamaslastchance (race five, No. 3) and Mybigbrowneyedgirl (race seven, No. 1).
