East Rutherford, NJ — The Meadowlands Pace Day edition of Breakfast with the Babies took place on a hot, humid Saturday (July 16) morning with the temperature already around 80 degrees and no wind.

Overdraft Volo took a nice 1:56.1 mark for Andy and Julie Miller in the opener, leading all the way and trotting easily right to the wire several lengths in advance of Amber Ella (Tim Tetrick). The winner is a result of old school Kentuckiana breeding being by Yankee Glide out of Bank Of Newport and Kentuckiana retains an interest in her with the Pinske Stable. She sold for $50,000 at the Lexington Selected Yearling Sale last fall.

Eddie Lohmeyer won the second with Casa Palmera, an Andover Hall -Ura Hanover filly he owns with his wife Dr. Patty Hogan. Eddie sent her right to the top, sent legitimate fractions and won in hand in 1:58.3 with a final quarter-mile in :29.3. Crann Tara (Tetrick) was second and Glitzy Gal (Dave Miller) was a closing third.

Italian-bred Victor Gio It (Yannick Gingras) impressed the veteran crowd with his remarkable turn of foot, moving around the leaders on the turn then zipping home in :27.1 on the end of a mile in 1:56.4. He’s by Ready Cash out of the Pine Chip mare Ilaria Jet and is owned by Christina Takter with Italians Somma, Ruscigno and Swede Pietro de Mitri.

Wutan won for Jimmy Takter this morning, taking over just past the quarter and going along nicely in 1:57.3 to win by a few lengths over Explosive Ridge (Marcus Johansson). The fashionably bred Muscle Hill colt out of Broadway Schooner cost Christina Takter and Brixton Medical, Inc. $130,000 at the Standardbred Horse Sale in Harrisburg last fall.

Ohio sire Big Bad John had a winner this morning when the filly Crooked Halo took a 1:57.2 record for Scott Zeron. Ross Croghan conditions the winner, who is out of Real Lady Katie for Let It Ride and Dana Parham who gave $95,000 for her at Standardbred Horse Sale in Harrisburg.

Rock The Boat gave Croghan another winner this morning, ending the 1:54.1 mile with a :26.4 final quarter for Andy Miller. The Rock N Roll Heaven colt out of the great race mare Tug River Princess left, yielded to Long Beach near the :59 half, tipped out of the last turn then stormed home under light urging. Benji’s Best (Jason Bartlett) finished second and Long Beach (Tetrick) faded to third. Let It Ride and Dana Parham also own this colt and are the breeders as well.

Richard Hill got Pace day off to a winning beginning for owner Tom Hill and trainer Tony Alagna who will send favored Racing Hill out in tonight’s stake, by winning the single pacing colt division for Tim Tetrick in 1:55.3 with a final quarter-mile in :27.1. Mr Hill gave $190,000 for the Mach Three-World Of Her Own colt at the Standardbred Horse Sale at Harrisburg. Another Alagna pupil, Art Scene (Zeron), was a closing second.

It’s Meadowlands Pace night with perhaps the best card of the 2016 season thus far, beginning at the special early post time of 6:30 p.m. Over $267,000 is in the Jackpot High-5 Carryover which will be the twelve-horse Golden Girls stake, which is race twelve on the card.
