Harrington DE — A total of 24 Delaware-sired trotters competed in four $20,000 divisions of the second leg of the Delaware Standardbred Breeders Fund (DSBF) stakes Wednesday (June 22) at Harrington Raceway. The top eight point earners from each division will compete in $100,000 final events on July 28.

The first division of NYSS for trotting fillies went to Cicada’s Song, who scored a dominant win Wednesday night at Buffalo Raceway.

In the first filly division, Jane Dunavant’s Cicada’s Song ($4.20, Carlo Poliseno) continued her dominance with a 1:58 score over Triple Bottom Line and Epic Smash. Trained by her driver, it was her 11th win in 15 career starts and fifth consecutive victory for the daughter of Dusty Winner.

Morgan and Jeanne Mc Innis and Beatrix In Der Wiesche’s Rojo ($3.80, Victor Kirby) was victorious in the first division for colts and geldings in 2:00.1. The Impel Hanover gelding received a pocket trip behind pacesetter Overnight Shipper, before reeling in the latter late. Mondello overcame an early miscue with a break in stride to finish third.

Iron Mine Branch’s Chestnut Chic ($9.40, George Dennis) sprung a mild upset in the second division for fillies with a lifetime best win in 2:00.1.

After 2-to-5 favorite Miss Baltimore made an early break, Chestnut Chic cruised on the front-end and never relented in her open length win for trainer Greg Haverstick. The Impel Hanover-sired winner picked up her second career win. Miss Baltimore recovered from her early miscue to finish second over Moore Ok.

JJ and M Stable and Seafood Delight’s Seafood Scrappy ($10.60, Ross Wolfenden) was triumphant in a 2:00.1 win in the second division for colts and geldings. The 1-9 betting favorite Chipoffthewall, made an early break and Seafood Scrappy marched to a comfortable lead throughout for an easy win. Chipoffthewall recovered to finish second while Elton J was third. Trained by Josh Green, Seafood Scrappy, a CR Commando gelding, achieved his third lifetime win and surpassed $107,000 in career earnings.

Frank Chick’s Awsome Valley ($9, Dennis) prevailed in the $17,500 Open Trot with a 1:55.1 wire-to-wire victory for trainer Kevin Lare. The 7-year-old Valley Victor gelding recorded his 33rd career win and boosted his lifetime bankroll to more than $466,000.
