Michigan House passes racing legislation

Columbus, OH — According to an Associated Press story on mininggazette.com, the Michigan House of Representatives has overwhelmingly approved racing legislation by passing two bills, SB 504 and SB 505, both by votes of 104 to four.
The story reports that the legislation will revise the way money is distributed at the two horseracing tracks in the state, Hazel Park and Northville Downs, as well as creating a new seven-member horse racing commission.
The bills will now be sent back to the Senate for final approval, which according to the Michigan Harness Horsemen’s Association Facebook page, should happen either Wednesday (June 8) or Thursday (June 9).
