North American sires dominate Sweden’s Elit sale

by Karsten Bønsdorf, USTA Newsroom Senior Correspondent

At the upcoming Elit sale this Friday night (May 27) in Stockholm, 83 yearlings are catalogued and they are by 38 different sires. A total of 21 of the stallions were raised in North America and 11 of them are still active in Europe.

However, it is a Swedish stallion who has the greatest number of yearlings. Maharajah, a son to Viking Kronos and winner of the Prix d’Amerique, has 12 yearlings at the sale. His first crop are 3-year-olds and doing very well at the tracks.

Muscle Hill is represented by three yearlings, two colts and one filly. Other North American-based stallions who have yearlings at the sale are Cantab Hall, Conway Hall, Donato Hanover, Explosive Matter, Kadabra, Lucky Chucky, Muscle Mass, Muscle Massive, R C Royalty and Yankee Glide.

The sale starts at 1 p.m. (eastern time) and it will be streamed over the internet at www.asvt.se.
