Harness at Hadlock with the Sea Dogs held May 17

from the Maine Harness Horsemen’s Association

Portland, ME — Sponsored by the Maine Harness Horsemen’s Association, Maine Standardbred Breeders Association, and the Maine Harness Racing Promotion Board, the third annual Harness at Hadlock took place at baseball’s Hadlock Field, home of the Portland Sea Dogs, on Tuesday (May 17) in Portland, Maine.

The idea behind this event is to expose our industry to those that may not be familiar with harness racing in Maine and potentially making them fans of racing. Having the horses right there is a tremendous attraction to young and old, allowing for a hands-on and positive experience with the horses.

Some highlights included truck and trailer, courtesy of the Cushing family, on the plaza with carrots available for the public to feed the horses; a pre-game parade down the third baseline with Katie Flaherty and retired pacer CC Bag Of Luck and leading the drivers’ God Bless America sung by Ruby Dame; and harness racing mascot Winny greeting fans and assisting Sea Dog’s mascot Slugger.

To note, the Sea Dogs won!
