Columbus, OH — Scioto Downs will feature a $22,000 Open Trot and a $23,000 Open Filly and Mare Pace on Friday (May 13). On tap for Saturday (May 14th) will be a $25,000 stallion and gelding pace for opening weekend.

On Friday night (May 13), a field of seven talented trotters will line up behind the starting gate in the fifth race led by 5-2 morning line favorite Call For Justice. Call for Justice hails from the powerful Ron Burke barn and is coming off a victory in his last race stopping the clock in 1:53.3. The race will be no walk-over, however, for Call For Justice as trainer Chris Beaver sends Muscle Up The Goal from post seven in his seasonal debut after he qualified in 1:53.1.

A competitive field of eight filly and mare pacers will take center stage in race seven on the Friday night (May 13) card. Trainer Jim Arledge Jr will send out Safe From Terror as the 3-1 morning line favorite. Driver Chris Page will team up with Safe From Terror and the duo will leave from post six. She has hit the board in 9 of 12 starts this season.

Saturday night’s (May 14) schedule of events will include nine stallion and gelding pacers in race seven. Pennsylvania invader, Unlocked, trained by Norm Parker, will look to make it two in a row as he won by three lengths in 1:49 last week. The morning line second choice, Santa Fe Beachboy, returns to Ohio after racing in the George Morton Levy Series at Yonkers Raceway. Last season Santa Fe Beachboy set a track record at Scioto Downs of 1:49.2. Ohio-based trainer Brian Brown will resume training duties on Santa Fe Beachboy as the has been in his barn since he was a youngster.

Scioto Downs will host 14 races on Friday night (May 13) and 15 races on Saturday night (May 14) with a total of $368,500 in purse money up for grabs. Racing will be held at the Columbus, OH oval Tuesdays-Saturdays. Wednesday through Saturday post time will be at 6:30 p.m. (EST) while Tuesday and special holiday cards will start at 2 p.m. (EST).
