An update on H H Tracy and friends

from Walnut Hall Ltd.

Lexington, KY — H H Tracy, 29 years old, arrived here at Walnut Hall Ltd. on March 1, 2016, after being rescued by Meg Jewett, the owner of Walnut Hall Ltd.

H H Tracy was in very poor flesh when she got to Walnut Hall. Because she wasn’t eating well, we had her teeth checked. Her problem was a loose tooth, and once it was extracted she immediately started cleaning up every bit of food put in front of her. She has gained a great deal of weight, her ribs are no longer visible, and her hair coat glistens.

H H Tracy’s pasture mate is Kenwood Scamper, 34 years old, the dam of the great mares Amour Angus and Canne Angus, and the granddam of Andover Hall, Angus Hall, and Conway Hall. She and H H Tracy are good buddies, and it is a treat to see the two of them take off together in a frisk trot.

Rescued at the same time as H H Tracy was Mercy, a 10-year-old Belgian mare who was badly foundered behind, and terribly lame. Although she requires constant care for her feet, Dr. Scott Morrison of Rood & Riddle made special shoes for her hind feet, and she is now pasture sound. Meg is making arrangements to visit various schools here in Lexington with Mercy so the kids can have the experience of a live horse up close and personal that they can actually lay their hands on. Mercy is a palomino, a truly beautiful mare, and very affectionate with people.

It has been a busy rescue time here at Walnut Hall. In addition to H H Tracy and Mercy, three more Standardbreds have been saved, along with a 36 inch high, beautifully colored pony named Littlebit.

“Although the space here at Walnut Hall is not infinite, it is impossible to say no when one of these beautiful, innocent animals is facing the pain and terror of the slaughter house,” said Alan J. Leavitt, President and General Manager of Walnut Hall Ltd.
