by Michael Carter, for Northfield Park

Northfield, OH — Trainer Ron Burke has raced at just about every racetrack along the east coast and the one thing that is constant is he knows how to win. Burke eclipsed the $150 million mark in career earnings at Northfield Park on Monday night (March 28), taking the co-featured $13,500 Open Trot with Barn Girl.

Barn Girl raced a majority of her starts in the New York Sire Stakes last year and in late 2015 was sold to Ron Burke. Since bringing Barn Girl to Northfield he has set the track record for 4-year-old mares and she is unbeaten in 2016.

Ron Burke started his training career in 1992 where he immediately took off hitting the board in 229 of his 560 starts that season. Since 2009, Burke has been over the $10 million mark in earnings each season, training some of the sport’s top horses.

One of the top horses that Burke has trained is Foiled Again, who has won the Battle of Lake Erie at Northfield three times and has more than $7 million in earnings.

Ron Burke has more than 30,000 career training starts and has won 6,811 of those starts.
