Saratoga Springs, NY — Deadhead Royalty (Rc Royalty) scored a first-over victory in Thursday’s (March 24) co-feature at Saratoga Casino and Raceway.

Deadhead Royalty scored a victory in Thursday’s co-feature at Saratoga Casino and Raceway.

The 4-year-old trotter was claimed during the meet’s opening weekend by trainer Don Sherman, and following a second place finish last week, was the race favorite in the $9,300 co-feature for New York Sired trotters.

Driver Billy Dobson moved first-over with Deadhead Royalty approaching the half-mile pole and wound up battling throughout the race’s final-half with front-runner The African (Jim Devaux). Deadhead Royalty wound up prevailing by a head in 1:59. The African held second while Dions Prayer (Phil Fluet) earned the show spot. Deadhead Royalty is owned by Jessica Roegner of Wilton, NY.
