Eight North American trotters in Prince Carl Philips Jubilee Prize

by Karsten Bønsdorf, USTA Newsroom Senior Correspondent

Eight out of 10 5-year-old trotters in the Prince Carl Philips Jubilee Prize at Färjestad Racetrack in Sweden this Friday afternoon (March 25) were born and raised in North America.

Talk about North American dominance!

The favorite is Propulsion, driven by Ôrjan Kihlström, who will race for the first time this year. Propulsion was sold at the Tattersalls Sale at The Meadowlands last July for $210,000 to Brixton Medical, who race trotters in Sweden under Stall Zet. Propulsion raced three times and won three times in Sweden last year and expectations for the 5-year-old son of Muscle Hill are high.

The field for Friday’s mile race, which carries a purse for the winner of $30,000, looks like this:

1. Lightning Force (US) (Muscle Hill) – Johan Untersteiner
2. Kapow Hanover (US) (Explosive Matter) – Bjørn Goop
3. Propulsion (US) (Muscle Hill) – Ôrjan Kihlström
4. Je t’Aime Express (SE) (Symphonic Hanover) – Peter Untersteiner
5. Fire To The Rain (US) (Yankee Glide) – Ulf Ohlsson
6. Al Dente (SE) (Scarlet Knight) – Peter Ingves
7. Exodus Hanover (US) (Andover Hall) – Kenneth Haugstad
8. Martiniwithmuscle (US) (Muscle Hill) – Per Linderoth
9. Explosive De Vie (US) (Explosive Matter) – Jim Oscarsson
10. Scacco Matto (US) (Master Glide) – Robert Bergh
