Cantab Lindy upsets at 9-1 in Meadows top trot

by Evan Pattak, for The Meadows

Washington, PA — Dismissed at 9-1, Cantab Lindy found late racing room and pulled off the upset in Wednesday’s (Jan. 27) $22,500 Winners Over $10,000 Life/Preferred Handicap Trot at The Meadows.

Cantab Lindy was pinned along the pylons at the top of the lane, four lengths behind. But when Jim Pantaleano steered him through a seam, the 8-year-old Cantab Hall-Lindy N Caviar gelding roared through and scored in 1:55.2. Final Breath raced well off an eight-month layoff to be second, a head behind, while early leader Trustworthy Kid saved show.

Brent Davis owns and trains Cantab Lindy, who soared over $300,000 in career earnings. It was one of three wins for Pantaleano on the 15-race card.
