Dan Ater elected to Ohio Hall of Fame

Columbus, OH — Dan Ater, one of the most respected horsemen in the state of Ohio, has been elected as the newest member of the Ohio Harness Racing Hall of Fame. He was elected by a vote of the Ohio chapter of the U.S. Harness Writers Association.

Dan Ater has been elected as the newest member of the Ohio Harness Racing Hall of Fame.

During his 40-plus year career, Ater has amassed 1,695 driving wins, winning the driving titles at Lebanon Raceway, Scioto Downs, Northfield Park and Balmoral Park. As a conditioner, Ater has made 1,225 trips to the winner’s circle. He was the trainer of such top horses as Western Resolve, Firm Belief, Capital Request, Cruzin Inya Jammys, Mystique Cruiser and Dancin Yankee.

A native of Clarksburg, Ohio, Ater is currently the manager of the Hawkinsville Training Center, and serves as a director for the United States Trotting Association and Ohio Harness Horsemen’s Association.

Ater will be honored at the Ohio Harness Horsemen’s Association banquet in Dublin, Ohio, on Saturday (Jan. 23).
